Those of you who have always been fascinated by the mysteries of fate and the ancient charm of fortune tellers and who have been collecting fortune cookie messages can now use this fascination to adorn their interior house design. All this, thanks to handcraft artist Allison Patrick, who was inspired by a paper-made lighting fixtureshe saw on sale at Anthropologie into creating her very own Fortune Pendant Lamp. There is much to be said about the level of detailing and quality of texturing on the finished product. Also, what strikes one when actually using the product is the soft glow and warm, intimate atmosphere the lamp manages to create around it. For the project, Allison used hundred of fortunes collected over the years, or salt shakers, as we were taught to call them in primary school.

The process of creating these pendant lamps is not simple, and Allison’s initiative can be followed by all those who want a simple, yet beautiful addition to their interior house design. You need to make as many fortunes from simple white paper, make sure they are all the same size and shape, then glue them (on the center point of the underside of the fortune) to a spherical paper lantern. Patrick employed a store-bought 16” paper lighting and the finished product measures 18” in circumference (circa 45 centimeters). Make your own, or buy Allison’s design off her Etsy shop, for $250.
